Protocol For Wedding Reception

Do I use both of our last names or do I use his last name only when addressing the banquet room at our wedding reception?

Our Thoughts

Tradition would have you take his last name upon entering the banquet room at your wedding reception - i.e. For the first time in public, please welcome Mr. & Mrs. John Smith.

But today traditional wedding reception protocol is not always what works for you. I have a lot of clients that do not give up their maiden name or they want to incorporate both of their first names in their first entrance.

However you choose to have it said, you really cannot go wrong today. Just have fun with it and really enjoy the moment because it goes by so quickly!

Regards,
Danielle

Wedding Reception Order Of Events

What is the official schedule for the wedding reception?

Our Thoughts

To help with the order of events for your wedding reception, visit Wedding Reception Protocol.

You will want to decide what traditions you will want to include in your wedding reception. Examples include the bouquet and garter toss and father/daughter and mother/son dances.

Try not to get too rigid with your planning. Leave plenty of time for you and your guests to enjoy the food, drink and socializing that makes wedding receptions fun.

Order Of Events At Wedding Reception

by Everett

At the reception which one is served first and why-the cake or the champagne? We are having quite the debate on this subject.

Our Thoughts

Typically the champagne toast occurs at the beginning of the wedding reception along with the best man and maid of honor speeches. The cake is usually served after the meal.

This doesn’t mean, however, that you can’t move things around a little if you want. Work with your reception space, caterer or wedding planner to discuss your options.
