What is the expected reimbursement for the minister at a wedding?

Over the years as a wedding planner my client's ask me this very question. Everyone has different opinions on gratuity reimbursements and every wedding officiant has different expectations as well.

I would start by looking at the relationship you have with your minister and then your budget. My advice would be to give a minimum of $50 and can goes as high as $175.00, but again, it truly comes down to your budget.

The tip is traditionally given in cash within an envelope with a thank you note, yet I have seen clients choose to write a check as well. Remember, if this is not something you cannot afford, I think the higher powers would understand.
