Formal Wedding Guest Attire

1. Can I wear black to a formal Saturday night wedding?

2. And, if yes, can I still wear black if the bridesmaids are wearing black?

Our Thoughts

The short answer to both of your questions is, yes. In generations past wearing black as a wedding guest may have caused some problems, but in this modern age of wedding planning etiquette it is absolutely acceptable.

If the wedding is a formal event, a black dress is certainly acceptable. If the wedding party will also be wearing black, you may want to try to stand out a little by adding a small splash of color.

My step-daughter's bridesmaids are wearing black and I wanted to wear black. They will have a teal sash so can I still wear by black dress with red shoes or colorful accessories
