Frequently brides-to-be end up spending hundreds (sometimes thousands) of dollars on a beautiful wedding dress. The big day comes and goes, and the dress gets cleaned and put into a closet to never be worn again.
In addition to dresses, many shops also rent all of the related accessories like shoes, veils and jewelry.
In generations past mother's would pass along their wedding dress to their daughters with the hope that they would wear the dress for their wedding. This is very rare and doesn't really happen in today's society.
The dress then becomes something that you will forever be moving with you throughout the rest of your life, and you won't be able to get rid of it because you will feel too guilty.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with buying your wedding dress, and this is still the most common thing to do. It is worth, however, considering all of your options if you are looking to cut costs and don't mind not keeping your wedding dress.

- You will possibly be able to wear a more expensive and better dress by renting.
- It is more convenient to rent. Just wear it and return it when you are finished.
Won't My Options Be Limited?
Not necessarily. When gown rental companies first started many of them only offered a few different styles to choose from. Now when you walk into a gown rental boutique you may not see any difference between it and a regular bridal shop.
If you want a certain style or brand you may need to look or call around a little, but don't let this discourage you.
