Asking For Gift Card Wedding Gifts

What is the proper way to ask for gift certificates or gift cards when the bride and groom are relocating to another state immediately after getting married? This is to keep from having to pack up wedding gifts as well.

Our Thoughts

There are a couple ways to handle this situation. First, it is never a good idea to mention your wedding gift preference in your wedding invitations.

Start by asking the bridal party and both families to start spreading the word for you. Word of mouth is a great way to tactfully get the message out to all of your guests.

Also, your wedding website can be used to communicate the message as well. If you don’t already have a wedding website, we encourage you create one since they are a great way to communicate details about your wedding to your guests.

You can even post a message on your website explaining the situation and what store you would like the gift certificates to come from. Choose one or possibly two stores so you can accumulate enough gift cards to get the items that you want.
